MAKEUP ARTIST 101- STARTER KIT 3- BRUSH SETS & FACE BRUSHES
Hi guys!
So here is another post under the Makeup Artist Series 101..and it is a post I'm sure you will enjoy..BRUSHES! yay
If you need brushes for your personal use, please check this post HERE. I did last year, as it covered types, uses etc
Ok so for upcoming/aspiring muas, lehgo!

Let me start by saying, if you are looking for a post to help you acquire cheap brushes, I'm afraid this is not for you. As with every job in life, you have to spend money to make money. And one thing you CANNOT to be cheap about are brushes! No way in hell! Just NO! If you are expecting all those 24pc Bobbi Brown brush set (which are imitations by the way) and where to buy them, this is not the place. That being said, for those that realize makeup is serious business, and you have to put your all, then this is it!
BRUSH SETS
If you meet makeup artists that have been in the game for a while, they will tell you they don't buy makeup brush sets/ This is not because makeup brush sets are bad, but because they already have brushes and makeup sets could be repetitive. As a beginner, the easiest way for you to build your collection (yes build, trust me you KEEP buying!) is to buy a reasonable brush set. Without beating around the bush, the brush set i will recommend for starters is the
How many brush sets have kabuki brushes?? This one does. The selection of the brushes in this set is simply amazing. You will use all these brushes, (well maybe except for the lash comb, lol) as opposed to makeup brush sets with repetitive brushes, no good face brushes and crease brushes.. You would definitely enjoy this.
SIGMA COMPLETE KIT
This set contains 29 brushes, I haven't used this set personally, but judging by the quality of the individual brushes, and the collection of brushes in this set, it is a good starter set..you get Stippling brushes, Good face brushes, eyeshadow, crease, blending, crease..the whole works. This set does not contain a useless spooly brush or eyelash comb! so yay! Down side is that, it is VERY pricey at $415...judging from quality of the individual brushes, they are not better than the Bdellium tools. Some might differ, but then again this is just my personal opinion.
KABUKI FACE SETS
After the getting the makeup brush sets, you might need to purchase individual face brushes! Surprised? well don't be, your work never finish
Kabuki brushes makes your foundation application easier and faster, you can use them to apply, or buff in agter stippling. They are also good good for concealing and sculpting.
The Sigma Beauty Sigmax® Kabuki Kit contains five face brushes that will help you apply liquid and cream products flawlessly
F80 - Flat Kabuki will apply liquid or cream products to flat areas of the face such as the forehead and cheeks.
F82 - Round Kabuki: Blend mineral products onto the skin.
F84 - Angled Kabuki: Buff cream blush or bronzer onto the skin.
F86 - Tapered Kabuki: Apply cream and liquid foundations onto the harder to reach contours of the face.
F88 - Flat Angled Kabuki: Blends foundation easily onto hard to reach areas of the face. Angle fits all areas of the face seamlessly. Works especially well on cheekbones and contours of the nose.

ROYAL CARE 4PC KABUKI
This is definitely a good way to start seeing as the Sigma Kabuki set is really expensive. But as ti,e goes on, I assure you, you will be looking for something more precise, take it from someone who has been there. With time, the bristles strat spreading out and become wider than its original state. But these brushes do not shed, one bit! So you can definitely start with this, then add maybe some sigma or bdellium tools, individually along the line, like I have done.
But if you do not want to waste money on this, you can go for the sigma tools straight away
REAL TECHNIQUES CORE COLLECTION
Everyone loves these brushes! Because well they are great, and for the price, you are getting good value. I am not so as crazy for this brush set as I used to be, but then again, it is just a matter of preference. Kindly click HERE to read a full review of these babies.

I started out with the MAC 182, which is a hot mess. Really hot mess, then I tried the ELF kabiki and it turned out well. But i just recently got the Bdellium Tools Kabuki which I adore because it is a complete flat top and I use it to apply powder, bronzer and even blush. It helps set the powder, bu buffing as opposed to just sweeping product across the face. The morphe oneis flat as well and pretty much does the same as the Bdellium tools.
I haven't included the stiff foundation brush here, which looks like this,
So this is what I have for face brushes and brush sets! Do you know any fab brush/brush set/brush type I missed? Kindly leave a comment below!
